Understand how power tools and machinery can damage hands and arms over time, the legal exposure limits, and the steps that keep operators safe. Essential for anyone using vibrating tools.
Hand arm vibration syndrome develops slowly and quietly, often over years of tool use, and by the time symptoms appear the damage can already be permanent. This course explains how vibration from grinders, drills, breakers and other powered tools affects the hands, wrists and arms, and what can be done to prevent lasting harm.
You will learn to recognise the early warning signs, including tingling, numbness and the whitening of fingertips known as vibration white finger, and understand why these symptoms should never be ignored. We cover the Control of Vibration at Work Regulations 2005, including the exposure action value and exposure limit value, how vibration exposure is measured and calculated, and the practical controls that reduce risk such as tool selection, maintenance, job rotation and health surveillance.
Study at your own pace on any device, with podcast style audio recaps to reinforce your learning on the go. This course is essential for anyone who regularly operates vibrating tools or equipment, along with their supervisors and managers.
